Dental insurance can be a great aid to helping pay for you and your family’s dental needs. Unfortunately, many people with dental insurance never take advantage of it. The way it works is that your company/employer decides upon a plan that pays for all of or a percentage of treatment. There are basic treatments such as cleanings, fillings and root canals that are often covered completely or at a high percentage. There are other treatments that may be more complex, such as crowns or bridges, which may be covered at a different percentage.
Your plan may have a yearly maximum. If you do not use your yearly allowance, it does NOT carry over to the next year. If you have not been to the dentist in a while, now is the perfect time to come as you can take advantage of this full year’s worth of insurance before the end of December and in January you get another full year of insurance to use. This is especially helpful if there is a lot of work to be done. Remember having no pain does not always mean there are no problems!
